Vista and Windows 7 / 8 users:

By default Windows 7 / 8 and Vista do not allow saving data to your VST Plugins
folder in the program directory. This prevents SynthEdit VSTs from extracting embedded SEMs to disk
(You will get error messages when starting the host / the plugin).

You can fix this by changing the folder's Permissions:

- Use Windows Explorer to browse to your VST Plugins folder.
- Right-click the folder - 'Properties'
- Choose 'Security' tab.
- Click 'EDIT' (You may need to click a UAC prompt).
- Select username "Users".
- Tick options Allow 'Write' and 'Modify'.
- To finish Select 'OK' to close the two dialog boxes

Or use a seperate folder for VST plugins in your main directory instead under "\program files\..."

After this you might need to rescan plugins in the host.
In Ableton Live you need to press ALT while choosing rescan (manual chapt. 16.2.)

In Ableton Live you might need to give the program admin rights (right click the program's icon...)
